About

Akkadica is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal indexed in the Web of Science Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI).

Since 2026, it appears as a diamond open access journal, freely available online with no publication or reading fees.

Published biannually (June and December), each issue comprises approximately 100 pages.

Akkadica welcomes original, high-quality, and high-impact research on the archaeology, history, and languages of Western Asia.

Submission Checklist

Before submitting, please consider the following:

  • Am I submitting an article to a special issue or not, or am I submitting a supplementa?
  • What is the file format I will submit in?
  • Have I formatted references according to Chicago (Author-year) style manual?
  • Is your article anonymised?

IMPORTANT:

Akkadica is a double-blind journal, that means articles should be anonymised upon submission. If your article is not anonymised, then the submission can be desk rejected.

Anonymised means: no author names in file or file name, nor reference to own work such as 'I/we have shown...'

Peer Review

This journal operates a double anonymous, peer review policy. Submissions can be reviewed as: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions or Reject. In cases where revisions are required, authors will have the change to provide the review with a rebuttal letter. The journal editors will take reviews and rebuttals into account when evaluating submissions, and they retain all rights to accept or reject a submission.
