Abstract

About 8,000 tablets were discovered at Nuzi during the American excavations undertaken in 1925-1931. This documentation dates mainly from the late 15th and the early 14th century Bc. 630 tablets were found in different rooms of the palace ; most of them are administrative records. Based on this corpus, the present article intends to highlight the role of women acting as administrators in the palatial sphere. Three case studies are presented. The first concerns f & Scaron;arrikuti, a woman in charge of managing a part of the queen's assets. The second focuses on the women who dealt with the palace furniture. The third study relates to female team leaders, especially when these teams consisted predominantly of female workers.
