Le Temple de Ningešzida à Girsu

Author

Abstract

Nearly a century after the excavations of the Louvre at the location of the Ningegzida temple in Girsu, a review of the material and archives related to the excavations of this temple has helped to better understand this sanctuary and the original context of objects from it. This multiple approach also reminds us of the importance of the Ningeszida temple during the reign of Gudea de Lagas who built it before his son Ur-Ningirsu II continued this cult in close connection with the royal power and his palace.
