Fourteen Ur III texts belonging to the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal and the Département de Monnaies, médailles et antiques

Abstract

The following paper is concerned with fourteen Ur III texts. Among them, there are two tablets (NOS 2-3) and a bulla (NO. 4) from the Ex Collection of Ladislas Mandel(1) kept in the Bibliotheque de l'Arsenal while eleven cuneiform tablets (NOS 1 and 5-14) are in the Departement des Monnaies, medailles et antiques. The two collections, belong to the Bibliotheque nationale de France.(2) The texts are classified according to the place of their supposed origin (Girsu, Puzris-Dagan, Umma), then they are arranged in chronological order. Their copies' are presented in their actual sizes without a scale indicating their dimensions while their measurements: height (H.), width (W.) and thickness (Th.) are given in millimetres. The abbreviations in this study are as follows: AS - Amar-Suena, IS - Ibbi-Suen, S - Sulgi, SS - Su-Suen. The transliteration of the texts follows, for the most part, the convention of CDLI and the cited sources are given according to their primary publications, i.e. author and date (their standard abbreviation then the CDLI number). The next chart indicating the description refers to the main details of the Fourteen cuneiform texts.
