The Fall of Babylon in 1499: Another Update

Abstract

A response to Pruzsinsky's suggestion that the chronology of second millennium Mesopotamia cannot be solved, arguing that the system proposed by GASCHE et al. appears to be compatible with the givens. It is also suggested that the alternative chronologies are not persuasive - or indeed demonstrably wrong, stressing that there is an emerging consensus that the Middle Chronology is no longer tenable, meaning that an alternative system should be recognized. The discussion covers Egyptian, Levantine, and Aegean chronology, aside from Mesopotamia. The central question is that of methodology - judging and analysing the data as a unit and relating the different sources.
