Abstract

This article sets out from the study of a clay tablet with an Iri-Sagrig provenience at the Iraq Museum (IM 235574). The text holds the key to the life story of a homeless child called 'Miasgi', who appears rarely in Ur III texts. We follow his work activities as a young door keeper and shepherd 'na-gada', and look into the rations he receives for his labour through four additional texts, available in the BDTNS database, complementing the information from our unpublished text. The tablet, dated to the fourth year of Su-Suen's reign, belongs to the confiscated group of objects that were returned to the Iraqi museum in 2019. It was one of 985 cuneiform tablets of different languages and dating to various periods in that collection.
